10 goats, Elsi, Rosa, Ria, Rina, Kitty, Anke, Bella, Fichte, Zottel & Finy do their best on the Alpe Soladino and each of them produces around 1.5 l milk every day. At the beginning of the Alpine summer more and then steadily less.

Xaver has also moved in since mid-August. A proud boy with his horns. But he know how to use them for flirting with his ladies.

The Nera Verzasca goat, an old Ticino local breed, stands for a piece of wild goat romance in the southern Alpine valleys with its short, fine and pure black coat.

Asini

Eta, Bruna, Rosalie, Silas and Fiocco enjoy their lives on the Alpe Soladino. As soon as they get used to walk with the halter, we can give you a hike to Lago d'Alzasca!

Schwarzes Alpenschwein

On the Alpe Soladino, Turopolje pigs enjoy the summer and get the whey for breakfast every day. During the day they make the alp unsafe and do nonsense.

The Turopolje pig is a medium-sized breed, white to gray colored with black, usually round spots.

The animals have long, drooping ears, strong legs and a weakly curled tail. The animals are very robust, resistant to cold and diseases and can therefore be kept outdoors all year round. That is also why they are ideal for extensive pasture keeping.

Alfi (Alfonso) and his seven Susans peck wildly on Alpe Soladino. You can stroll around and cackle all day long. With Alfi, a little care must be taken. He likes to defend his ladies ... but he is also a very good "watchdog" and crows when there are new guests.

Strong, robust, humble and proud: the Swiss chicken is the way the Swiss like to see themselves. With the bright red comb and snow-white plumage, it even comes in the national colors.

Honey Bees

Thanks to Alfred Bachmann, beekeeper from Prato-Sornico with many years of experience, we can start our first beekeeping attempts in 2020. As newcomers, we try to record all experiences in our bee year so that we can learn from the mistakes and successes made.

We are not concerned with producing as much honey as possible. We want much more that the beehives are part of alp management.

Pollination increases both the yield and the quality of our crops. About a third of agricultural crop production in the world depends on pollination.
